w i w - Estate Sales!

We just couldn't resist another day of thrifting this weekend. On Saturday, the employee at the Community Estate Sale store told us about Oregonlive's classified section. The estate sales are separated by area of town; you can pin them on a map, and then route the trip! So cool!

So on Sunday, that is what we did. I found three that were relatively close together and close to us with promising descriptions: "vintage toys/trucks; collectibles: glassware, lamps; books, records.." I think the funnest part of the trip was walking through other people's houses; opening their cabinets and searching for that misplaced milk glass oil lamp or Tonka truck.

I dressed down on Saturday so I couldn't help but dress up a bit.

Get the look:

The first house was really old and run down, but the architecture was beautiful. It had a really unique library room that was rounded with shelves on one wall and bay windows on the facing wall. The bathrooms were original to the house and I loved the tile. I found a complete Lite Brite set in the basement under the stairs. Steve found a Nerf Ping Pong set on the game shelf, I'd never even heard of those. I also found a vintage boho tie, a unique lapel pin, and two cute wire dolls strung on twist-on earrings.
The house

The next stop was pretty crowded and disappointing. Steve found a secret cabinet on the stairs that I was too scared to search through. Especially after he said "there might be bodies back there." haha. I saw a vintage thermos in a pink 70s pattern with no lid but like I said, I wasn't sticking my hand in there. I ended up getting some really cute brown floral cloth napkins that look new for 50 cents.

The last stop was a fully updated house, it reminded me of the first, but had been completely re-done. It had a really cute breakfast nook leading into the dining room that had white wood bench seats and built in shelves. I thought I wasn't going to find anything in my price range here until I realized the brass piece I was mindlessly staring at on the knick knack table was actually a purse! I've never seen anything like it. I was so excited, I didn't notice the chip on the corner or care that the bottom lining had come unglued. Truly a unique piece, I've never seen anything like it!

The loot!

Well that is enough shopping for a little while. Now it's time to get to work. Keep your eyes on Mothballz, new items listed daily!
